BetBoom Dacha - Main Event. Group stages. Third game day. Group A. The opening match of the last game day of the group stage is, as per tradition, played by the team that ended on the previous day. Team Secret will play against Evil Geniuses, battling for the playoffs, maybe even for the upper bracket.
Known as the Western Europe team that failed to win the qualifications for The International 2023, for them, now is the time when any tournament becomes the main event of the year. The BetBoom Dacha, with its $150,000 prize pool, should be a significant motivation for Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov's team. The team's level can be debated, but one fact remains: they are currently one of the best teams in this tournament, solely because they are one of the few who recently participated in professional play, particularly in the unsuccessful qualifications for The International 2023. Now, they are striving to get out of the group in their first match in this tournament and have even managed to take one map from BetBoom Team. Not a bad result, considering BetBoom are playing at their home tournament and are considered the main favorite, not just of Group A, but of the entire event.
At the time of writing, this is the last team in Group A. In their first tournament match, they managed to lose to TSM 0:2. However, on the second game day, they did win one map against BetBoom Team. As the matches here follow a best-of-2 system, they have earned one point so far. To make it to the playoffs, they must win in the final match of the game day; otherwise, there is a high chance that they will leave the tournament at the group stage. Interestingly, Evil Geniuses were not supposed to participate in this tournament originally. They received a chance to play as replacements and did not decline. However, their current form resembles their last season's major, where they not only didn’t qualify for the playoffs but also ended as the worst team in the tournament.
Team Secret and Evil Geniuses have played 36 matches together. Of these, Team Secret has won 20, and Evil Geniuses 12, while four ended in a draw. This year, the teams have played twice, drawing once and yielding a victory to Evil Geniuses on the other occasion.
BetCity views Evil Geniuses as the slight favorites for this match, with odds at 3.00 for their victory, while the odds for Team Secret's win are at 4.40. The lowest odds are on a draw, at 1.92. However, I would suggest selecting the alternative outcome of Team Secret winning with a 0 HANDICAP at odds of 2.28. Team Secret could win this match, but to secure ourselves, I will take the handicap, in case of a draw, the bet will simply be returned. There is not that much confidence in a victory prospect for the Western European squad.
