On Sunday, 26 May, at 38 rounds of the Spanish La Liga, Getafe will host Mallorca. While the hosts have a chance to finish in the top half of the standings, the islanders have already secured their place in the elite division.
The match will take place in Getafe at the Coliseum Stadium.
Getafe surprised everyone this campaign by avoiding a relegation battle. Positioned 12th in the table going into the final round, the Azulones theoretically still have a chance to finish in the top ten should they defeat Mallorca. However, in recent weeks, Bordalas' team has slowed down, losing their last four La Liga matches, the latest being a 1-0 defeat to Alaves, decided by a Vicente goal in the 12th minute.
Prior to this, the blue-greens lost to Athletic Bilbao (0-2), Cadiz (0-1), and Atletico Madrid (0-3). The last time Getafe won at home was against Girona on 16 March, scoring only 19 goals in 18 home fixtures. Nevertheless, in terms of the number of points collected at home, the hosts are tenth overall (29 points in 19 matches).
Mallorca had a very tough campaign but managed to retain their top-flight status with a home draw against Almeria last weekend (2-2). Larin put Aguirre's men ahead on the 29th minute, but Arribas soon equalised. In the second half, Langa and Darder also found the net. Meanwhile, Cadiz couldn't secure a win against Las Palmas, ensuring a four-point gap above the relegation zone with one round to go.
Mallorca is guaranteed to finish 17th in the La Liga table, having won only one of their last eight matches but not losing in their last three, including a victory over Las Palmas (1-0) and draws with Osasuna (1-1) and Almeria (2-2). It’s worth noting that the visitors are fourth from the bottom in the overall away points tally (just 11 points from 18 matches, with 14 goals scored and 27 conceded).
The first-leg encounter ended in a goalless draw. However, the last three meetings between these teams in Getafe have ended in victories for the Azulones.
Getafe have not won in their last four matches (4 losses) and are already thinking about the upcoming holidays. Meanwhile, Mallorca secured their La Liga status last weekend and are also looking forward to the game without any league motivation. Given the first-leg result, a similar draw can be expected on Sunday evening.
Getafe concedes few goals at home and scores even less (an average of one per game). Only in one of their last six encounters did these teams surpass the 2.5-goal mark, so confidently bet on the under.
The battle will unfold in midfield, leading to few goal-scoring chances. Bet on the total corners under 9.5.
Getafe averages 3.5 yellow cards per game this season, while the visitors have 2.7. Bet confidently on the total cautions over 4.5.
I’m placing my bet on a 0-0 draw.
