In the 1/2 finals of the US Open Hardcourt Championship, Coco Gauff from the USA and Karolina Muchova of Czech Republic will compete. My bet goes for a Gauff win.
19-year-old Coco Gauff, ranked 6th in the Women's World Tennis ratings, has secured five wins in the US Open Championship. As part of this tournament, she firstly overtook Siegemund with a score of 3:6, 6:2, 6:4, then beat Andreescu with a score of 6:3, 6:2, Mertens 3:6, 6:3, 6:0, Wozniacki 6:3, 3:6, 6:1 and Ostapenko with a score of 6:0, 6:2.
Before this, at the Cincinnati tournament, Coco Gauff claimed the championship title, defeating Sherif with a score of 6:2, 6:2, Noskova with a score of 6:4, 6:0, Paolini with a score of 6:3, 6:2, Swiatek with a score of 7:6 (7:2), 3:6, 6:4 and Muchova with a score of 6:3, 6:4. Previously in Montreal, Gauff defeated Butler with a score of 6:2, 6:2 and Vondrousova 6:3, 6:0, but suffered a defeat from Pegula with a score of 2:6, 7:5, 5:7. Her impressive performance in Washington where she became the champion, not losing a single set, is worth mentioning. In this tournament, she overcame Baptiste with a score of 6:1, 6:4, Bencic 6:1, 6:2, Samsonova 6:3, 6:3 and Sakkari with a score of 6:2, 6:3, but at Wimbledon, her performance ended in failure, as she suffered a defeat in her first match against Kenin with a score of 4:6, 6:4, 2:6. In late June, Coco Gauff reached the semifinals at the Eastbourne tournament, beating Pera, Berreidge and Pegula but then lost to Keys, and in Berlin she started off well, beating Siniakova, but then lost to Alexandrova.
At the beginning of June at the French Open, Coco reached the quarterfinals, defeating Masharova, Graber, Andreescu and Schmidlova, but then suffered a defeat from Swiatek. In the three previous tournaments, Gauff couldn't get past the second round, in Rome she beat Putintseva, but then lost to Bouzkova, in Madrid she beat Burillo Escorihuela, but lost to Badosa, and in Stuttgart she beat Kudermetova, but then suffered a defeat from Potapova. In January, Coco Gauff demonstrated excellent hardcourt play and became the tournament winner in Auckland.
27-year-old Karolina, ranked 10th in the world, has won five matches in the US Open. At the beginning of the tournament, she defeated Sanders with a score of 6:4, 6:0, then beat Fruhvirtova 6:3, 6:3, Townsend 7:6 (7:0), 6:3, Wang 6:3, 5:7, 6:1 and Giorgi with a score of 6:0, 6:3.
Previously, in Cincinnati, Karolina reached the final defeating Haddad Maia, Martic, Sakkari, Bouzkova and Sabalenka, but lost to Gauff. In Montreal, she won against Potapova and Giorgi but lost to Swiatek. At the Warsaw tournament, the tennis player won against Sasnovich with a score of 4:6, 7:6 (7:0), 6:3, but lost to Schmiedlova with a score of 5:7, 6:3, 5:7, and at Wimbledon, Karolina suffered a defeat from Nimayer in the first match with a score of 4:6, 7:5, 1:6.
Nevertheless, in June, at the French Open, Muchova demonstrated superb play by reaching the final. She has secured victories against Sakkari, Podoroska, Begu, Avanesyan, Pavlyuchenkova and Sabalenka, but in the final, she lost to Swiatek with a score of 2:6, 7:5, 4:6.
Additionally, at the tournament in Rome, Karolina showed a decent level of play, overcoming Rahimova, Trevisan and Giorgi, but suffered a defeat from Badosa. The start of the season was also successful for Muchova, where she reached the quarterfinals at the tournaments in Indian Wells and Dubai, which were held on hard courts.
The players previously met on 21st August, as part of the Cincinnati tournament's finals match on hard court, the match ended with Gauff winning with a score of 6:3, 6:4.
Gauff has had a stable season and feels confident on hard court, with only one loss in 17 matches played on this surface in the second half of the season. Coco is the clear favourite in the upcoming match, and my bet is on her victory.
