In the fourth round of the US Open on hard, two Americans, Madison Keys and Jessica Pegula, will compete. We're betting on a Pegula win.
28-year-old Madison, ranked 17th in world standings, has won three victories on the US Open against Rus with a score of 6:2, 6:4, Wickmayer 6:1, 6:2 and Samsonova with a score of 5:7, 6:2, 6:2. Prior to this, the player faced a series of losses and lost in three matches out of four. In Cincinnati she lost to Mertens, and in Montreal she beat Williams, but later withdrew from the match against Paolini. Madison started the current season with six consecutive victories in Australia. At the United Cup, she scored victories over Bouzkova, Niemeier, Swan, Linette and Bronzetti, and at the Australian Open, she coped with Blinkova and Wang, but failed to overcome Azarenka. In Dubai, Keys reached the quarterfinals, defeating Paolini, Garcia and Azarenka, but then lost to Gauff.
29-year-old Jessica Pegula, currently ranked 3rd in the world standings, has notched three victories at the US Open over Giorgi with a score of 6:2, 6:2, Tig 6:3, 6:1 and Svitolina with a score of 6:4, 4:6, 6:2. Prior to this, at the Cincinnati tournament, the tennis player overcame Trevisan with a score of 6:7 (2:7), 6:2, 6:3, but afterward lost to Bouzkova 4:6, 0:6. At the previous competition in Montreal, she won the title and coped with Putintseva with a score of 6:4, 6:4, Paolini with a score of 6:4, 6:0, Gauff with a score of 6:2, 5:7, 7:5, Swiatek with a score of 6:2, 6:7 (4:7), 6:4 and Samsonova with a score of 6:1, 6:0. Jessica Pegula also showed good game form, reaching the semi-finals in tournaments in Charleston on clay, and also in Miami and Dubai on hard courts. In February, she reached the final in Doha, also on hard courts, and advanced to the quarterfinals at the Australian Open.
The athletes previously met in 2022 as part of the tournament in San Diego on hard court, which ended with a victory for Pegula with a score of 6:4, 7:5.
Judging by recent performances and the current form of Pegula, she seems to be more confident, also the result of their previous meetings is on her side. I'm betting on a Pegula victory.
