The 29-year-old Caroline Garcia, ranked 7th globally, has already secured two victories at the Cleveland tournament, defeating Fruhvirtova 6:3, 6:2 and Stearns 7:6 (7:4), 6:3. Prior to this, the tennis player faced a series of losses and lost four straight matches. In Cincinnati, she succumbed to Stevens 6:4, 4:6, 4:6, in Montreal - Bouzkova 4:6, 6:4, 2:6, in Washington - Kostyuk 2:6, 3:6, whilst previously at Wimbledon, she claimed victories over Volynets 6:4, 6:3, and Fernandez 3:6, 6:4, 7:6 (10:6), falling shortly after to Bouzkova 6:7 (0:7), 6:4, 5:7.

In Eastbourne prior to this, Garcia thwarted Brengle 6:1, 7:5, and Bogdan 6:3, 6:4, yet had to terminate her match against Kasatkina due to an injury when the score was 2:6, 1:2. Earlier, Garcia participated in the Berlin tournament, where she beat Lisicki 7:6 (7:2), 6:3, and Forliss 6:3, 6:2, but lost to Kvitova 4:6, 6:7 (3:7).

During the French Open, Garcia failed to advance past the second round. She won against Xiyu Wang 7:6 (7:4), 4:6, 6:4, but lost to Blinkova 6:4, 3:6, 5:7. She also fell short of reaching the second rounds in the three previous tournaments: in Rome she beat Bogdan, but lost to Osorio Serrano, in Madrid she defeated Putintseva, but was defeated by Sheriff, and in Stuttgart she overcame Maria, but lost to Potapova.

Among Garcia's successful games, we can also note reaching the final of the Monterrey tournament on the hard court in March, and Lyon's final in February.

Lin Zhu

29-year-old Zhu, ranked 48th globally, secured two victories at the Cleveland tournament against Blinkova 6:0, 6:3, and Graber 6:4, 1:6. Yet, her previous games brought her a streak of failures, with just one win in her last seven matches. In Cincinnati, the tennis player lost to Kalinina 3:6, 5:7, in Montreal - Pliskova 3:6, 7:6 (10:8), 2:6, and in Czechia, she lost her position against Wickmayer and was defeated 6:1, 4:6, 2:6. Meanwhile, in Warsaw, she was unable to hold her position, falling to Siegemund 4:6, 4:6, following a successful victory over Xiyu Wang 6:4, 6:2. Her path at Wimbledon was equally unsuccessful, as she lost to Swiatek 1:6, 3:6 in the first round.

In late June, Zhu made it to the semi-finals of the Birmingham tournament. Her tournament victories include Butler 7:5, 7:5, Linette 6:3, 6:0, and Marino 4:6, 6:3, 6:2. However, Krejcikova put an end to her winning streak, claiming victory 6:3, 6:2. Zhu also participated in the Nottingham grass tournament, where she beat Parks 7:6 (7:5), 6:2, but suffered defeat from Frech 2:6, 4:6.

Her performances in other tournaments have also been mixed. Zhu reached the semi-finals of the Monterrey hard court tournament in early May, where she overcame Bondar, Marino, and Dolehide. But afterwards, the tennis player suffered four consecutive defeats, dropping out from the first rounds of championships in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and the Open Championship of France. In early February, Lin claimed victory at the Hua Hin tournament, beating Xiyu Wang, Chang Su-jong, Zidansek, Wang, and Tsurenko. At the Australian Open Championship in January, Zhu reached the 1/8 finals, defeating Marino, Teichmann, and Sakkari, but she could not hold her own against Azarenka.
