In the third round of the US Open on hard court, Germany's Alexander Zverev will play against Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria. We are betting on Zverev to win with a game handicap of -2.5.
The 26-year-old Alexander, currently ranked 12th in the world, secured two victories at the US Open against Vukic with a score of 6:4, 6:4, 6:4 and Altmayer 7:6 (7:1), 3:6, 6:4, 6:3. Prior to this, he had a strong performance in Cincinnati, where he reached the semi-finals. There, the player successfully outperformed Dimitrov 6:2, 6:2, Nishioka 7:5, 6:4, Medvedev 6:4, 5:7, 6:4 and Mannarino 6:2, 6:3, but then conceded to Djokovic 6:7 (5:7), 5:7. He also participated in the Bastad tournament, where he reached the quarterfinals after defeating Molcan and Monteiro before conceding to Rublev. At Wimbledon, he advanced to the third round, overcoming Broady and Watanuki, but then lost to Berrettini.
This season, Alexander reached the semifinals at the Halle tournament, defeated Tsitsipas, Shapovalov, and Harris, but then conceded to Bublik. At the French Open, he advanced to the semifinals, overcoming Harris, Molcan, Tiafoe, Dimitrov and Etcheverria, but then lost to Ruud. In other tournaments this season, he mostly reached the third round.
32-year-old Grigor Dimitrov, currently ranked 19th in the world, has achieved two victories at this tournament over Molcan, recording 6:7 (9:11), 6:7 (5:7), 6:1, 7:5, 7:6 (11:9) and Murray 6:3, 6:4, 6:1. Earlier, Dimitrov lost to Zverev in the first round in Cincinnati with a score of 2:6, 2:6, but in Washington he made it to the semifinals after defeating McDonald 7:6 (8:6), 6:2, Ruusuvuori 6:4, 6:3 and Humbert, before conceding to Evans 3:6, 6:7 (4:7). Previously, he successfully qualified, overcoming Vukic and Rinderknecht. At the French Open, he reached the 1/8 finals, defeating Skatov, Ruusuvuori and Altmaier, but then lost to Zverev.
In Geneva, Dimitrov made it to the finals, after defeats of Carballes Baena 6:1, 6:4, O'Connell 6:7 (5:7), 7:5, 6:4 and Fritz 3:6, 7:5, 7:6 (7:2), but lost to Harris with 7:6, 6:1. This season the player rarely advanced beyond the second round in other championships, with the exception of Rotterdam, where he reached the semifinals, and the Australian Open, where he secured two victories.
The athletes have met six times previously, with Dimitrov only managing a single victory in 2014.
Zverev has displayed consistent play and a high class on the court, making him the favourite in the upcoming match. Based on their previous encounters, I believe Alexander has good chances of overcoming Dimitrov.
