In the second round of the hard court US Open, two Germans, Alexander Zverev and Daniel Altmaier, will compete. Betting on Zverev's victory with a game handicap of -6.5.
26-year-old Alexander, ranked 12th in the world, easily won his first victory at the US Open over Vukic with a score of 6:4, 6:4, 6:4. Prior to this in Cincinnati, the tennis player reached the semi-finals, overcoming Dimitrov with a score of 6:2, 6:2, Nishioka 7:5, 6:4, Medvedev 6:4, 5:7, 6:4 and Mannarino 6:2, 6:3, but subsequently lost to Djokovic with a score of 6:7 (5:7), 5:7. Earlier, Zverev participated in a tournament in Toronto where he successfully handled Griekspoor with a score of 6:4, 7:6 (7:3), but suffered defeat from Davidovich Fokina with a score of 1:6, 2:6.
In late July, Alexander showcased his strong sporting abilities, claiming victory at the clay court championship in Hamburg. Throughout this tournament, he overcame Molcan with a score of 6:0, 6:3, Marterer 6:3, 7:5, Van De Zandschulp 6:3, 6:4, triumphed over Fils 6:2, 6:4, and Fery with a score of 7:5, 6:3. Zverev also took part in the Bastad tournament where he reached the quarterfinals, defeating Molcan and Monteiro, but lost to Rublev. At Wimbledon, he reached the third round, overcoming Brouwer and Watanuki, but subsequently lost to Berrettini.
In addition, Zverev reached the semi-finals at the Halle tournament this season where he defeated Thiem, Shapovalov and Jarry, but eventually lost to Bublik. At the French Open, Alexander advanced to the semi-finals, beating Harris, Molcan, Tiafo, Dimitrov, and Etcheverry, but eventually lost to Ruud. In most of the other tournaments this season, he generally progressed to the third rounds.
24-year-old Daniel Altmaier, ranked 53rd in the world, picked up his first victory at the tournament beating Lestienne with a score of 7:6 (7:5), 3:6, 1:6, 2:6. Earlier, in Cincinnati, the tennis player lost in the first round to Popyrin with a score of 7:6 (7:5), 4:6, 4:6, and in the qualifying matches, he overcame O'Connell 3:6, 7:6 (7:5), 6:4, but lost to Moutet 4:6, 4:6. In Kitzbühel, Daniel also picked up one victory over Huesler, but then lost to Galan, and in Hamburg, he reached the quarterfinal and triumphed over Gasquet and Rublev, but then suffered a defeat from Zhang. Prior to this at the Gstaad tournament, Altmaier defeated Bonzi, but then lost to Hanfmann.
In mid-July at the Braunschweig challenger, Daniel reached the quarterfinals, defeating Taberner with a score of 6:3, 6:3 and Passaro with a score of 6:2, 6:0, but then lost to Agamenone with a score of 3:6, 6:2, 3:6. The previous five matches for Altmaier were somewhat of a trial as he suffered defeats in four of them. At Wimbledon, he lost to Vukic in the first round, and in Stuttgart, he was defeated by O'Connell.
At the French Open, Daniel picked up victories over Huesler and Sinner, but then gave way to Dimitrov, and in Rome he successfully went through the qualification, beating Kovalik and younger Ymer, then he coped with Zeppieri in the main draw of the tournament, but then gave way to Tiafoe.
At the end of April at the Madrid tournament, Daniel started from the qualification rounds, where he overcame Balazs, but then lost to Rodionov. However, he got a chance to join the main draw as a "lucky loser" and showed great results, defeating Otte, Hanfmann and Munar, but then gave way to Čorić. It is also worth noting that in mid-April, Daniel won the title at the clay courts Challenger in Sarasota, defeating Damm, Bergs, Diallo, Kuzmanov and Galan.
Earlier the athletes met in 2022 within the framework of the Australian Open, concluding with Zverev's victory with a score of 7:6 (7:3), 6:1, 7:6 (7:1).
Zverev is showing good form and feels confident on hard. He surpasses his opponent in class, and the outcome of their previous meeting is also on his side. I think that in the upcoming match, the victory will be for Alexander.
