On Tuesday evening, Coventry City, in the hunt for the top six, will host Rotherham United on their pitch. While the hosts have slipped to ninth position but still hold chances for the playoffs, the visitors are anchored firmly at the bottom of the league table, already with one foot in the "First League".
Although Coventry have made decent strides in the "FA Cup", their league position has significantly deteriorated. The two defeats by "Preston" and "West Bromwich" were not a part of Mark Robins' plans. Coventry has a decent calendar, and they must maximise points in games against bottom teams.
The visitors have extended their losing streak to seven matches and are 19 points adrift of safety. Overturning such a deficit is almost impossible. The last time Liam Richardson's side avoided a defeat on the road was on 20 January, when they played a 1-1 draw with "Middlesbrough". Central defender Sean Morrison was left out of the squad on Saturday, and his involvement is still in question.
The visitors are almost certain to be relegated at the end of the season, but the further it goes – the less the pressure on them. They can let loose and play for the joy of it. However, it hasn't been materialised yet. Coventry City is performing well, and it's about time they harvested a win. This game presents a great opportunity to comfortably bag 3 points. I am considering minimum negative handicap on the hosts.
I don't think it'll be a high-scoring game. The visitors will defend, and the final score will depend solely on their defence. Coventry City has some issues up front, hence, a low scoring game is expected.
