In a friendly football match, Montenegro will face Georgia. The game is scheduled for Sunday, 9 June.
The hosts have not been performing well and failed to qualify for the Euros. From the entire squad, only Savic and Jovetic stand out, but two players can't win a football match on their own. In their last friendly match, they lost to Belgium (0:2), although they did create a couple of chances at Belgium’s goal.
It's delightful to see the rise of football in Georgia. The team qualified for the Euros through the play-offs of the Nations League, beating Greece in the final (0:0, 4:2 on penalties). I wouldn’t say the Georgian squad is star-studded (aside from Kvaratskhelia), but they certainly do not lack fighting spirit. They can play excellent attacking football and are stable in defence.
The last time these teams met was during the 2009 World Cup, where Montenegro emerged victorious (2:1).
Fifteen years have passed since their last meeting, and Montenegro hasn't significantly improved, whereas Georgia has become a quite formidable European team. I believe the visitors shouldn’t lose here, so I’m backing Double Chance X2, or you could even consider taking the risk with Handicap 2 (0).
