How to change your name in WoT

World of Tanks is a tank-themed online shooter game, developed in 2010. Each participant in the tank battles uses a 'nickname'– a unique identifier. Players are often unsure how to change their nickname in World of Tanks.  Veteran players are aware that their World of Tanks nickname can be changed both for free and at a cost. 

In World of Tanks, players can change their username for 2500 gold units.

This name change in the game can be done via the personal account on the Wargaming or Lesta Games website, depending on the game version:

1. Log in to the Wargaming site for World of Tanks or Lesta Games – for the World of Tanks universe.

The user will see the entry "renamed_user" in their username field if the game administration receives enough complaints. The player can then freely select a new nickname through their personal profile. Changing your nickname free of charge due to complaints is not considered reliable. The participant would need to secure the backing of allies who are prepared to lodge complaints against the nickname. However, please be aware that complaints sent do not guarantee that the username in WoT will change to "renamed_user".

Changing your WoT nickname after an extended absence

An "inactive" account is assigned the name "renamed_user" after 3-6 months of a player's inactivity on World of Tanks. Upon returning to the battleground, the player can change their name to any unoccupied nickname. The system will reset the timer if the user shows any activity in WoT: logs into their account, partakes in battles, or makes purchases in the online store.
