On Thursday 20 June at 11:00 there will be a Volleyball Nations League clash between Brazil and USA.
Brazil have risen to third place in the standings after their recent victory over the Netherlands (3:1). Following a shaky start against Cuba (1:3), Brazil faced challenges only from top-tier opponents such as Slovenia (2:3) and Italy (2:3), but even then, they managed to deliver close matches.
Today, the Americans surprisingly lost to Iran (2:3), which pushed them further from the playoff zone. I believe that they won't make it to the final stage of the tournament, as giving points away at this stage is unacceptable. The USA have a rather strong squad, and initially, I expected them to be around the 6th-7th position.
Since 2021, the teams have met five times. Brazil has three wins (3:1, 3:1, 3:0), while the USA has two (3:1, 3:1).
After such a disappointing loss to the tournament's underdog, it will be very tough for the Americans to bounce back and continue as if nothing happened. Brazil, on the other hand, have looked excellent in their recent games and are unlikely to take this match lightly. Hence, I’ll take the simple victory for Brazil at 1.49.
