On Tuesday, 18 June, a Nations League volleyball match between the national teams of Bulgaria and Turkey will take place.
One of the underdogs of the tournament, just like their upcoming opponent. Even if Bulgaria wins all the remaining matches, it's unlikely they'll have enough points to advance to the playoffs, but that's more in the realm of fantasy. The team is in fourteenth place with only two victories to their name: against Iran (3:2) and the USA (3:1). It's worth noting that they confidently dismantled the Americans.
The Turks currently look dreadful. Throughout the tournament, they've managed just one victory against Iran (3:1), while in nearly all other matches, they've lost without much resistance. The Turkish national team occupies the penultimate place in the standings and is simply playing out the remaining matches.
In the history of both teams, they have not met each other yet.
The game is evenly matched – two underperformers are playing, so I don't quite understand why Turkey is being made the favourite, albeit slightly. The chances here are exactly 50/50, and in such a case, I prefer to choose the team with the higher odds. I'll take Bulgaria's victory.
