Jelena Ostapenko - Cori Gauff predictions and free betting tips [05/09/2023]

In the quarterfinals of the US Open on hard court, Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko and America's Coco Gauff are set to compete. Our bet is on Gauff's victory with a game handicap of -3.

Ostapenko, 26 years old and ranked 21st in the world, has secured four wins at the US Open. During the tournament, she defeated Paolini 6:2, 4:6, 6:1, Avanesyan 6:3, 5:7, 7:5, Pegula 4:6, 6:3, 6:3 and Swiatek 3:6, 6:3, 6:1.

Jelena has faced a series of setbacks since late June, losing four out of 6 matches. In Cincinnati, she beat Pliskova but was defeated by Rybakina, while in Montreal, she suffered a loss to Brady. Nevertheless, she started Wimbledon with a convincing win over Ostapenko 6:1, 6:2, but later could not overcome Kerber, losing 6:4, 6:7 (6:8), 4:6. In Eastbourne, she made it to the quarterfinals after defeating Strycova 6:4, 6:3 and Dart 6:3, 6:4. However, she had to call it quits mid-game against Giorgi at a score of 6:7 (8:10).

Ostapenko earned her well-deserved title at the end of June in Birmingham defeating Noskova 6:2, 5:7, 6:1, Venus Williams 6:3, 5:7, 6:3, Frech 4:6, 7:5, 6:2, Potapova 5:7, 6:2, 6:4 and Krejcikova 7:6 (10:8), 6:4. At the French Open, she won the first round against Martincova, but then fell to Stosur. In Rome, she reached the semifinals, beating Kerber, Krejcikova, Kasatkina, and Badosa before losing to Rybakina.

However, her performances in Stuttgart and Madrid were subpar, and she was eliminated in the second round. In Stuttgart, she defeated Raducanu but then lost to Jaber; in Madrid, she was able to triumph over Frühvirtová, but then fell to Samsonova. In January, Ostapenko put on a good show and reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open.

Coco Gauff

The 19-year-old Coco Gauff, currently ranked 7th in the world, has claimed four victories at the US Open. During the tournament, she overcame Siegemund 3:6, 6:2, 6:4, Andreescu 6:3, 6:2, Mertens 3:6, 6:3, 6:0 and Wozniacki 6:3, 3:6.

Earlier, in Cincinnati, Gauff claimed the title, overcoming Sheriff 6:2, 6:2, Noskova 6:4, 6:0, Paolini 6:3, 6:2, Swiatek 7:6 (7:2), 3:6, 6:4 and Muchova 6:3, 6:4. She then beat Butler 6:2, 6:2 and Vondrousova 6:3, 6:0 in Montreal, but was defeated by Pegula 2:6, 7:5, 5:7. Her performance in Washington was impressive, where she also claimed the title without losing a single set.

She successfully beat Baptiste 6:1, 6:4, Bencic 6:1, 6:2, Samsonova 6:3, 6:3 and Sakkari 6:2, 6:3. However, her Wimbledon performance didn’t result in victory, as she was defeated in her first match by Kenin 4:6, 6:4, 2:6. In late June, Coco reached the semifinals in Eastbourne, where she beat Peru, Berreidge and Pegula, but then fell to Keys. In Berlin, she started off well by beating Syniakova but later lost to Alexandrova.

In early June at the French Open, Coco reached the quarterfinals and defeated Masarova, Grabher, Andreescu, and Schmiedlova, but then lost to Swiatek. In the three previous tournaments, Coco couldn't overcome the second round. In Rome, she beat Putintseva but fell to Buzkova; in Madrid, she overcame Burillo Escorihuela but lost to Badosa; and in Stuttgart, she triumphed over Kudermetova but then lost to Potapova. In January, Coco Gauff put on an outstanding show on hard court and emerged as the champion in Auckland.
