In the upcoming League 1 tour, Lincoln and Bolton will face off. The game will take place at 15:00 GMT. The match promises to be tense until the last minute, and nobody will want to give way.
Lincoln: Jensen; Eyoma, Jackson, O'Connor; Sorensen, Hamilton, Erakon, Rauen; House, Mandriou; Walker.
Bolton: Baxter; Ricardo, Airedale, Jones; Dacres-Cogley, Morley, Sheehan, Dempsey, Williams; Charles, Adebayo.
The "Red Imps" are slowly manoeuvring between the divisions. Last year the gents showed average results, which led them to 11th place. However, it’s worth mentioning that they became famous for their capacity for ending matches in a draw, as 20 out of 46 games ended with a level scoreline.
In the 19th match, they drew with Barnsley (2:2). In the next match, Lincoln won away against Cambridge with a score of (3:0). Afterwards, the lads tied with Wigan (0:0). Then the team drew with Reading (1:1). But in the last tour, they suffered a defeat to Derby County with a score of (1:3).
Many know this team from their Premier League days. But 12 years ago, Bolton had a crisis that led them to fall to the Championship. After that, there was a drop to League 1 and even to League 2. After all the failures, the team changed its coach. Now they are led by Ian Evatt. Under his leadership, they climbed out of League 2 and have been playing in England's third division for 3 seasons now. Last year they were close to returning to the Championship, but Barnsley defeated them (1:2) in the play-off stage.
The squad began the new season quite confidently. In the 17th tour, the lads pulled off a crushing victory over Exeter City with a score of (7:0). In the next tour, Bolton played out a goalless draw with Oxford. After that, the team lost to Portsmouth with a score of (0:2). They then lost at home to Bristol Rovers (1:2). But in their last match, they managed to claim victory against Leyton Orient with a score of (3:2).
The last match between the teams took place on 5 August 2023. In that showdown, Bolton claimed a home win with a score of (3:0).
In this stand-off, I would bet on the victory of the guests. Bolton, after two defeats, is starting its rehabilitation, so it will be hard for the opponent to even secure 1 point from this game. Lincoln might put up a good fight, but I am rather sceptical about this.
Yet, I think this will be a close match with goals traded. Therefore, I'd wager on the total number of goals being over 2.5.
