On Tuesday, 30th January, as part of the 22nd round of the Premier League, Fulham will host Everton. Marco Silva's team lost to Newcastle last Saturday in the 1/16th of the country Cup with a score of 2:0, a few hours after the "Toffees" lost to Luton Town on their field - 2:1.
Fulham: Leno; Castagne, Adarabioyo, Ream, Robinson; Palhinha, Cairney; Decordova-Reid, Pereira, Willian; Jimenez.
Everton: Pickford; Patterson, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Harrison, Onana, Garner, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin, Beto.
Sitting in the 13th position of the Premier League and being 8 points clear of the relegation zone, Fulham doesn't have any specific tasks left for the rest of the season. However, they must stay vigilant as in recent weeks their form has dwindled; the Cottagers have lost four out of their last five games, only winning once. After astonishing Arsenal at home (2:1), Silva's charges were defeated by Chelsea (1:0).
Fulham exited the League Cup at the semi-final stage against Liverpool (2:3) over two legs, and last weekend in the FA Cup, they succumbed to Newcastle (0:2). Willian's goal early in the second half was disqualified, while the Magpies responded with accurate strikes from Sean Longstaff and Dan Burn. It's key to mention that 18 out of the 24 points and 19 out of the 28 goals that the Londoners have scored in this Premier League have been won at Craven Cottage.
Everton, having been deducted 10 points for breach of Financial Fair Play rules, is battling to stay in the Premier League. They are currently sitting in 17th place and are just one point clear of the drop zone, with a game in hand. The Toffees haven't won any of their last four Premier League matches. Nevertheless, they managed a 0:0 draw against Aston Villa, after which last weekend they lost at home to Luton in the FA Cup (1:2) due to an own goal from Mykolenko and a stoppage-time winner from Cauley Woodrow.
However, Everton comes to the capital with five away wins recorded this season, more than their campaigns in 2021-22 and 2022-23 combined. Doucoure and Dele Alli will continue to be absent from the Toffees' line-up. Additionally, seasoned midfielder Idrissa Gueye is still with the Senegal national team at the Africa Cup of Nations, while the fitness of captain Coleman and midfielder Andre Gomes is in question.
In the last five matches against Fulham, the visitors have encountered four defeats, including the League Cup quarter-final match in December (1:2 after the penalty shootout).
Marco Silva's men can count on fervent home support, yet Fulham's current form raises concerns among their fans after losing three out of four consecutive matches. Contrarily, Everton, still feeling vexed about their bitter exit from the FA Cup, has already secured five wins on the road this season. Hence, a double chance bet on the Toffees appears reasonable.
Everton netted 13 goals in 10 away fixtures, whereas Fulham conceded 12 times in the same span at home. I'd confidently bet on the visitors' individual total over 1 goal.
Fulham will surely look to play the upper hand (as hosts, it's a must) and is well capable of delivering at least 5 corners in the match.
In both meetings between these teams in the current campaign, no more than 3 yellow cards were shown. Betting on the total number of bookings under 4.5 seems logical.
I'd bet on a precise score of 1:2 in favour of Everton.
