Gremio - Fluminense predictions and free betting tips [30/06/2024]

On Sunday, 30 June, at 13th round of the Brazilian Serie A, Grêmio will host Fluminense. The hosts are languishing in the relegation zone and struggling to regain their form, while their opponents, despite last year’s Copa Libertadores triumph, are at the very bottom, placing 20th.

Fluminense

Fluminense is in a worse crisis than Grêmio, aiming to end their poor run with just one victory in 12 rounds. Despite last year’s Copa Libertadores win and a 7th place finish in the league, this season has shocked their fans. Their disastrous start led to the recent sacking of Fernando Diniz, with Marcão stepping in as interim head coach. Last week, they stumbled again, losing to Vitória, with Janderson’s goal in the first minute of the second half sealing their fate.

This marked their eighth defeat this season, the most in Serie A along with Vasco da Gama. Moreover, Fluminense has yet to earn a single point on the road in five away matches, with only Vasco da Gama conceding more goals than the current Copa Libertadores titleholders. Thiago Silva will officially rejoin on 1 July, so they will be without the experienced centre-back for at least one more round.

Their last encounter was in December of last year, where Grêmio triumphed 3:2. In fact, the last six meetings between these sides have all ended in favour of the black and blue.

Grêmio will have home advantage with the support of their fans, but in terms of performance, they are no better than the current Copa Libertadores champions.
