Fluminense - Vitoria BA predictions and free betting tips [27/06/2024]

On Friday, 28 June, as part of the 12th round of the Brazilian Serie A, Fluminense will host Vitoria. Both teams are settled in the relegation zone and suffered defeats last week, which means they are highly motivated to redeem themselves in front of the fans.

Vitoria, having just been promoted, hopes to cling to its spot in the elite division for next year but is currently in a precarious 17th place overall. Given that the gap from the safety zone is just one point, it’s too early to speculate about the club's prospects. After four rounds without losses in the league, including victories over Internacional (2-1) and Atletico Mineiro (4-2), the Red and Blacks were defeated by RB Bragantino 2-1 last weekend.

Jean Mota gave the underdog the lead in the 17th minute, but Eric Ramirez equalised just before halftime, and Elinho secured all three points for the Bulls in the second half. It should be noted that Vitoria hasn’t been overly successful on the road, sitting 15th in the league by away points. Fans will be pleased to know their favourites haven’t conceded more than one goal per game in four of the last five matches.

Fluminense hasn’t lost to Vitoria at home since 2016, winning twice and drawing four times during this period. Their last meeting ended in a goalless stalemate.

Another defeat to a close competitor would indeed complicate life for Fluminense, leaving them six points adrift of the safety zone. It’s important to remember that the Claret and Greens are still the reigning Copa Libertadores champions and will be determined to redeem themselves in front of their home crowd. Vitoria has only recently risen to the elite division and possesses a less prestigious squad – I dare to bet on a victory for the favourite.
