Bahia - Vasco da Gama predictions and free betting tips [27/06/2024]

On Thursday, 27th June, in the 12th round of the Brazilian Serie A, "Bahia" will host "Vasco da Gama". Both teams secured victories last weekend, but they are positioned at different ends of the league table: the hosts are in third place, while the visitors are just one point clear of the relegation zone.

A key package of “Bahia” shareholders recently came under the management of the well-known “City Group”, and, surprisingly, this is reflected not only in the team’s performances but also in their position in the league table. Sitting in third place overall, the hosts are three points behind the leading “Flamengo”. Last weekend, looking to bounce back from a painful 2-1 defeat to the red-blacks, Bahia obliterated "Cruzeiro", who were down to ten men from the 70th minute, securing a commanding 4-1 victory.

Gabriel Veron and Tassiano exchanged goals in the first half, but after Marlon's sending off, Estupiñán (with a brace) and Biel found the net. Notably, the Salvadorians have not suffered a home defeat in the league since 30th November last year, when they were edged out 0-1 by "São Paulo". Fans of the red-blues will also be pleased to know that their favourites haven't left the pitch without scoring in their last five matches across all competitions, conceding just six goals in that span. 

Vasco da Gama

Last season, the visitors narrowly escaped relegation, and it seems they will once again be battling to stay in the top flight. The white-blacks currently occupy the 15th spot in the league table, just one point ahead of "Vitória", who are below them. Having gone winless in four games, including three defeats - to “Flamengo” (1-6), “Palmeiras” (0-2) and “Juventude” (0-2) - “Vasco da Gama” brought smiles back to their fans' faces last weekend by defeating “São Paulo” 4-1 at home.

Álvaro Pacheco's team conceded early but turned the game around with goals from Alan Franco, Guilherme Estrela, Leandrinho and David. Having not won any of their last seven away matches since late February, the white-blacks are eager to end this streak. Interestingly, in terms of points earned on the road, “Vasco” is second to last overall: zero points in five away matches, with two goals scored and nine conceded.

The teams last met in September of the previous year, ending in a 1-1 draw; “Bahia” had won their two prior encounters.

“Vasco” was buoyed by a resounding victory over a strong "São Paulo" last weekend, but it's worth noting that the white-blacks' success came only after an opponent's dismissal. “Bahia” has started this campaign confidently and hasn't lost at home since November 2023. The hosts are not about to let “Flamengo” break away, so I'll bet on a victory for the home side.
