As part of a friendly football match, the national teams of Poland and Ukraine will meet. The game will take place on Friday, 7 June.
The Poles took a thorny path to qualify for the Euros. In the final, through the Nations League path, they overcame Wales (0:0, 5:4 on penalties). A fairly experienced and ageing squad, led by the evergreen Lewandowski, who plays for several players at once and is in good shape. The last time the Poles lost was last year to Albania (0:2).
The visitors also qualified for the Euros via the play-offs, beating Iceland in the final (2:1). In the previous friendly match, they secured a draw with Germany (0:0), which is not surprising given the excellent form of the team. Yes, they had to sit back for nearly all 90 minutes, but they had a few chances to score. I would like to highlight Anatoliy Trubin, who saved all shots like Yashin in his prime, allowing them to keep the draw.
The last time the teams met was in 2020, when the Polish national team easily secured a victory (2:0).
Poland is not as formidable an opponent as Germany, so Ukraine can play more freely, though the Poles are not to be underestimated. The teams are quite even in terms of gameplay, in my opinion, so I would take a risk here and go for a draw.
