On Monday, 3 June, we have a friendly football match between Germany and Ukraine.
At the club level, German teams achieved excellent results this season, although both Borussia and Bayer lost their European finals. In this domestic friendly, we shouldn't expect a top-notch squad, as it's better to give players a rest before the upcoming tournament.
In their last five matches, Germany secured two wins against the Netherlands (2:1) and France (2:0), suffered two defeats to Austria (0:2) and Turkey (2:3), and recorded a draw against Mexico (2:2).
The visitors qualified for the upcoming Euros, which is already a major success. They are an extremely resilient team with a host of talented young players, who have substantial experience in the top five leagues. Over their last ten matches, Ukraine only lost to Italy (1:2), but they have looked impressive in all other games.
Since 2020, the teams have faced each other three times. Germany won twice (3:1, 2:1) and drew once in a thrilling friendly (3:3).
There's a lot of faith in a German victory due to their illustrious name, but I wouldn't rush to conclusions here. Ukraine looks excellent at the moment and can punish any underestimation. I'll take both teams to score – yes and expect many goals.
