On Saturday, 1 June, a friendly football match between the national teams of Mexico and Bolivia will take place.
A couple of months ago, they succumbed in the CONCACAF Nations League final against the USA (0-2). The American team currently boasts a solid lineup, with many players having significant experience in top European leagues. The Mexican squad is also quite strong, but they are unlikely to field their main lineup in a friendly against Bolivia, with matches against tougher opponents like Uruguay and Brazil on the horizon.
They have performed quite well in recent matches. Surprisingly, they defeated Andorra (1-0) and thrashed Peru (2-0), almost clinching a draw against Algeria (2-3), but were routed by Uruguay 0-3. Most of their squad players compete in the Bolivian league, with no standout stars among them.
The last encounter between these teams was back in 2015 during the Copa América, ending in a draw (0-0).
On paper, Mexico is much stronger than their opponent, but the key question here is motivation. With upcoming battles against South American giants, it would not be wise to expend too much energy on Bolivia. Nevertheless, I believe Mexico will secure a win with a minimal scoreline. My bet is on a Mexico win and total match goals under 3.5.
