Let's take a look at the quarterfinal matches of the Asia Cup. Today the match between Australia and South Korea will take place at the Al-Wakra stadium.
Australia: Ryan; Atkinson, Souttar, Rowles, Behich; Metcalf, Irvine, Bozanic, Goodwin; Maclaren; Boyle.
South Korea: Hyun Woo; Hyun Soo, Je Min, Won Gyu; Hwan Ki, Sung Yueng, In Beom, Yun Seok; Heung Min, In Kang, Young Woo.
They're doing well in the cup. Initially, they scored 2 unanswered goals against India. They then secured a victory by a minimal margin against Syria and in the final group stage match, they drew against Uzbekistan, both scoring and conceding 1 goal. In the round of 16, they convincingly beat Indonesia, scoring 4 unanswered goals.
The team has not lost since June of the previous year. In their first match at the Asia Cup, they convincingly won against Bahrain (3:1). In the second match, they drew against Jordan, with each team scoring 2 goals. In their last group game, they drew against Malaysia, both scoring and conceding 3 goals. In the round of 16, they managed to win against Saudi Arabia on penalties.
In their last encounter, which occurred on the 7th of June in 2019, South Korea beat Australia, scoring the only goal of the game.
This match will no doubt be a tense one. Both teams are in excellent shape and could pose problems for their opposition. Nevertheless, I believe that Australia will manage to go the distance and beat South Korea on penalties. I am placing my bet on a draw or Australia win.
I don't think we will see many goals in a match containing two sides with solid defences. I would place my bet on total goals under 2.5.
