A regular MHL championship match for the 2023-2024 season is set to kick off amongst rivals from the "Silver" division of the Western conference. Russian hockey fans are bracing for a showdown between the "Amurskie Tigry" and "AKM-Junior".
The junior team of "Amur" has participated in 48 official matches of the regular MHL championship for the 2023-2024 season. With 48 games played and 69 points to their credit, "Amurskie Tigry" currently leads in the "Silver" division, occupying first place. The Khabarovsk club had an impressive performance in the past season as well although they missed out on the playoffs.
As of now, "Amurskie Tigry" leads in the "Silver" division, 10 points ahead of "Atlant" in the second position. It can be stated already that the "Amurskie Tigry" have won the "Silver" division, given the number of remaining matches. In their last 5 matches "Amurskie Tigry" have clinched 4 victories.
The "AKM-Junior" hockey team has played 49 official matches in the regular MHL championship of the 2023-2024 season. Having garnered 22 points from these 49 matches, "AKM-Junior" currently occupies the 8th position in the tournament spreadsheet of the "Silver" division of the Western conference. The 2023-2024 season was the second MHL-level season for "AKM-Junior", and their performance has so far been subpar, failing to assert themselves among the top "Silver" division teams.
At this point, "AKM-Junior" is in the 8th position, ahead of "Taifun" from Vladivostok and "SKA-Karelia". Given their current standing and lag of 9 points behind "Sakhalinskiye Akuly", rising above the 8th position is out of reach for "AKM-Junior". The red-blues have lost their last 4 matches.
"AKM-Junior" and "Amurskie Tigry" have crossed paths in 6 matches. "Amurskie Tigry" boasts 4 victories while "AKM-Junior" outperformed them in 2 matches.
The ITO for "AKM-Junior" is predicted to be over 1 goal.
"Amurskie Tigry" will win in regular time. The Khabarovsk-based players are clearly outclassing their rivals from Tula as is evident from the leaderboard. The teams are of different calibre, and it will be quite some time before "AKM-Junior" scales the heights matched by their golden-era Khabarovsk counterparts.
