Continental Hockey League regular season 2023/2024. The second match of the game day sees the main underdog of the East facing off against the team clinging to the eighth spot in the conference. Admiral, in Vladivostok, will be hosting Sibir from Novosibirsk.
The main question for Leonid Tambiev is when will Admiral finally achieve a victory? It seemed at one point that Admiral moved out of the crisis, started winning, results came in. But then just one time Ivanov was put in place of Demchenko and everything appears to have come undone. Admiral lost six matches in a row, and only two of those six were lost with an additional point.
The main task for Admiral right now is moving away from the last spot in the conference. After 48 games Admiral is located in the 12th spot in the table, gathering 39 points. Those points came from eight victories in regular time, six beyond it, and 11 losses with one point. The remaining 23 games were lost by Admiral without any additional points. With regards to goals scored, Admiral are the worst team in the East – 98. But in terms of goals conceded, they're third from the bottom with 135.
Interestingly, prior to the last match against Amur, Sibir achieved their only victory against Admiral. This is because in the other four out of five interactions, Sibir suffered losses. Yes, it can be said that Sibir still has a cushion of points, and the opportunity to win all their matches. However, they cannot afford to lose points in such games as they have almost completely lost the handicap they had previously. At the time of this forecast, Sibir is located in the eighth spot in the conference with 53 points from 50 matches.
Sibir garnered these points from 15 victories in regular time, seven beyond and a further nine losses with one point. The remaining 19 games were lost by Sibir without additional points. Sibir also has evident problems with the attack, having only scored 116 goals, third from the bottom. As for conceded goals, the situation is only marginally better as they share the third-fourth bottom spots with Admiral – 135 goals.
Admiral and Sibir have played 33 matches against each other. In this face-off, Admiral has 14 victories whilst Sibir has won 19 times. This season, the teams exchanged victories with Admiral winning 3:2 in overtime, and Sibir winning 4:1.
The favourite of this match is Sibir with odds of 2.40 for their win. The odds for Admiral winning is 2.85. But here, I'm tempted to take a risk and anticipate a win for Admiral, they've got to eventually win, especially against such an opponent.
If we're not focussing on the win of one of the teams, then it's worth taking TU (4.5) for 1.85. Both teams score few goals. So it's quite possible they'll fail to break a total of more than that in their personal match.
