The Georgian national team sensationally defeated Portugal and advanced to the Round of 16 in Euro 2024

In the final round of the group stage of the European Championship, the Georgian national team defeated the Portuguese team with a score of 2-0.

In the 2nd minute, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring, netting one of the fastest goals in the tournament's history. In the 57th minute, Georges Mikautadze doubled the score with a penalty.

Thus, the Georgian national team earned its fourth point in Group F and advanced to the Round of 16 of the European Championship. Despite the defeat, the Portuguese remained in first place with six points. Turkey took second place.

It is worth noting that Cristiano Ronaldo played 66 minutes, only receiving a yellow card.

The 2024 European Championship is being held in Germany from June 14 to July 14. The teams that finished in the top two positions in their groups, as well as the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the Round of 16.
