Nathan Tella Shines in Leverkusen's 4-0 Rout of Union Berlin with Debut Bundesliga Goal Following Super Eagles Call-Up

Nathan Tella, after opting to represent Nigeria's Super Eagles over England, marked his international call-up with a sensational goal in Leverkusen's dominant 4-0 victory against Union Berlin. Tella, a recent acquisition from Southampton, has been playing a secondary role to the in-form Jonas Hoffmann at Leverkusen.

Union Berlin, struggling without a win in the Bundesliga since September, continued their poor run as Alex Grimaldo opened the scoring for Leverkusen with a spectacular long-range goal in the 23rd minute.

Leverkusen had further chances through Victor Boniface and Florian Wirtz, but Union's goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow kept them at bay. The lead was eventually doubled in the second half by Odilon Kossounou, an Ivorian defender, off a corner kick from Hoffmann.

Grimaldo then assisted Jonathan Tah for Leverkusen's third goal, further disheartening Union Berlin. With only nine minutes remaining, Tella replaced Hoffmann and quickly made an impact. A failed Union free-kick led to a counter-attack initiated by Tella. He passed to Amine Adli, who found Tella behind Union's stretched defence. Opting to shoot rather than pass to Boniface, Tella successfully scored his first Bundesliga goal, capping off a memorable debut for the Super Eagles.
