Ecuador National Team Head Coach Resigns After Copa América Exit

After being eliminated from the Copa América, the Ecuador national team announced the departure of head coach Félix Sánchez Bas.

"We thank Félix and his coaching staff for their work and professionalism and wish him success in future projects," said the federation's statement.

In the Copa América quarterfinal match, Argentina defeated Ecuador in a penalty shootout.

The regular time ended with a score of 1:1. The match's first goal was scored by Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez in the 35th minute. Kevin Rodriguez equalized in the 91st minute, sending the game into overtime. It is worth noting that Ecuadorian forward Enner Valencia missed a penalty in the 62nd minute.

Lionel Messi also missed in the penalty shootout. In the semifinals, Argentina will play against the winner of the Venezuela vs. Canada match.

In the other quarterfinals, Colombia will face Panama, and Uruguay will face Brazil. The Copa América runs from June 21 to July 15.
