Djokovic Considers Withdrawing from Roland Garros

World number one Novak Djokovic from Serbia spoke about the health issues that arose during his match against Francisco Cerundolo in the fourth round of the French Open.

"In the third game of the second set, I slipped, as happened frequently today, and hurt my knee. It was painful, and I requested a medical timeout so the physiotherapist could come and take care of it. It threw me off my game. For two and a half sets, I didn't want to engage in long rallies. At one point, I wasn't sure if I should continue.

I took some medication, and at the end of the third set, I asked for more, the maximum dose, which started to take effect after 30-45 minutes. By the end of the fourth set, when I felt better, I was less restricted in my movements. And almost the entire fifth set was pain-free. But the effect of the medication doesn't last long. I think we'll conduct some more tests on Tuesday. Yes, I managed to win, but I don't know if I will be able to play in the next match. Could this injury have been avoided? Yes," Djokovic was quoted as saying by the French publication L'Equipe.
