The 2024 West African Championship, a high-profile basketball event organized by the Louis Edem Foundation, is set to take place from 31 March to 7 April 2024 at Surulere’s National Stadium indoor hall in Lagos. Originally planned for Abuja, the tournament has been relocated to Lagos to accommodate the logistical needs of international teams.
This prestigious competition will feature top teams from the region, including ASPAC and Energie from Benin Republic, Customs Braves and Spintex Knights from Ghana, and Nigerian powerhouses like Rivers Hoopers, Kwara Falcons, Lagos Raptors, Lagos Legends, Comets, and Hoops and Read. The tournament promises intense competition with teams vying to dethrone past winners Rivers Hoopers and Kwara.
Off the court, the Louis Edem Foundation, led by founder and president Louis Edem, reaffirms its commitment to investing N100 million in developing grassroots basketball in Nigeria over the next five years, in line with the Nigeria Basketball Federation's efforts to expand the sport.
