England's head coach Gareth Southgate may retain his position regardless of the outcome of the final match of the 2024 European Football Championship, reports the British newspaper Daily Mail.
The Football Association of England intends to offer Southgate to continue working with the team even if they lose to Spain in the decisive match of the continental tournament.
Southgate's current contract runs until December 2024, but there are plans to extend it in advance until the 2026 World Cup. However, the coach himself has not yet disclosed his future plans.
The 53-year-old Southgate took charge of the England team in 2016. Under his leadership, the English team became the runners-up of Euro 2020 and bronze medalists of the 2018/19 Nations League season, achieving a total of 61 wins, 24 draws, and 16 losses in 101 matches.
In the Euro 2024 final, England will face Spain on July 14.
