On Saturday, 10th of February, as part of the 24th round of the Spanish La Liga, Real Sociedad will host Osasuna on home turf. With a ranking of only sixth in the La Liga table, Imanol Alguacil's squad had to settle for a draw against Mallorca in the first leg of the national cup semi-final (0:0) earlier this week. In the previous round, the white and blues also drew a goalless match with Girona, which has only lost to Real Madrid this season.

With too many draws (10), Sociedad cannot currently aim to break into the top four, despite having only lost four times since August. Real Sociedad's staffing situation raises serious concerns. 

Osasuna

Last year's Copa del Rey finalist, Osasuna, currently occupies only the 12th spot in the La Liga table. Unable to break into the top 10, los rojillos have clearly slowed down in recent weeks, going three matches without a win, including defeats against Barcelona (1:0) and Celta Vigo (0:3) last weekend.

Jagoba Arrasate's team has 26 points and is nine points behind seventh-place Valencia, while the gap from the relegation zone is the same. All in all, the tricolores have gained 11 points in 11 away matches this season, which isn't a bad result. However, the visitors have scored only 26 goals, compared to conceding 36.

Earlier this season, Osasuna shared the points with Real Sociedad (1:1), but in the ⅛ national cup final, the Basques won 2:0.

Match prediction for Real Sociedad - Osasuna

Sociedad are having a dress rehearsal ahead of their trip to Parc des Princes for the Champions League round of 16 next week. Given the ever-increasing gap between the Basques and the top four, Alguacil's charges can't afford to stumble. For Osasuna, who essentially no longer have any tournament motivation and are just playing out the season for their own pleasure, I expect a home victory for the hosts.

In three matches across all competitions, Sociedad failed to score once, while Osasuna managed just one goal. Obviously, a high-scoring shootout isn't to be expected from this match - I'm betting on a total under 2.5 goals.

Real Sociedad will have more possession and try to crack the opponent's packed defence through the flanks. I expect the hosts to win on corners.
