The regular-season VHL match of 2023-2024 between competitors from different halves of the leaderboard will kick off. Fans of Russian hockey are looking forward to the face-off between "Metallurg" and "Omskiye Kryliya".
"Metallurg" has taken part in 55 official matches of the VHL's regular championship for the 2023-2024 season. "Metallurg" accounts for 55 matches played and has scored 61 points, ranking them at 16th place on the leaderboard. Last season, "Metallurg" performed much better, making it into the Petrov Cup playoffs where they reached the semi-finals and secured a bronze medal.
The 2023-2024 season has proved more challenging for "Metallurg", with the red-and-black team at risk of missing out on the Petrov Cup playoffs. Currently, "Metallurg" is positioned at 16th place, inching ahead of competition from Chelyabinsk at 17th place by just 1 point. The end of the regular championship will be a nerve-racking period for "Metallurg".
The reserve team of Omsk's "Avangard" has played 54 official matches in the VHL's regular championship for the 2023-2024 season. Over 54 matches, "Omskiye Kryliya" has managed to secure 48 points, putting them at 23rd place on the championship leaderboard. Despite flashes of decent performance, the red-and-black team has disappointingly fallen short of the regular championship, having had chances to squeeze into the Petrov Cup competition.
At the moment, "Omskiye Kryliya" holds the 23rd place, falling 13 points behind the competitors at 16th place. The Shaddow team of "Avangard" has long lost chances for getting into the Petrov Cup playoffs and is simply playing out the season at their leisure. Recently, "Omskiye Kryliya" has been mostly losing.
"Metallurg" and "Omskiye Kryliya" have faced off in 5 matches, with "Metallurg" winning 4 and "Omskiye Kryliya" coming out on top once.
The individual total for "Metallurg" will be over 3 scored goals.
"Metallurg" will win in regulation time. The Novokuznetsk club is clearly stronger than "Omskiye Kryliya" and has greater motivation to win in order to keep their chances for the Petrov Cup playoffs alive.
