The tennis player previously participated in Shanghai, where he overcame O’Connell scoring 6:2, 6:7 (2:7), 6:4, but later yielded to Humbert 4:6, 6:1, 2:6. In Astana, he didn't manage to pass the first round, conceding to Schevchenko 4:6, 3:6. In the Davis Cup Botic suffered a loss against Virtanen 6:7 (0:7), 4:6, but later marked victories against Paul 7:6 (7:2), 6:2 and Idukovich 6:3, 3:6, 7:5.
