27-year-old Christian, ranked 99th in the world, claimed his first victory at the Shanghai tournament against Kovachevich, with a score of 6:4, 7:6 (12:10). Daniil Medvedev
27-year-old Daniil, who is ranked third in the world of tennis, previously participated in the Beijing tournament where he reached the finals. Throughout that tournament, he recorded victories over Paul 6:2, 6:1, De Minaur 7:6 (7:3), 6:3, Humbert 6:4, 3:6, 6:1, and Zverev 6:4, 6:3, but lost to Sinner 6:7 (2:7), 6:7 (2:7). Earlier, Medvedev took part in the US Open where he also reached the finals, defeating Balasz 6:1, 6:1, 6:0, O'Connell 6:2, 6:2, 6:7 (6:8), 6:2, Baez 6:2, 6:2, 7:6 (8:6), De Minaur 2:6, 6:4, 6:1, 6:2, Rublev 6:4, 6:3, 6:4, and Alcaraz 7:6 (7:3), 6:1, 3:6, 6:3, but lost to Djokovic 3:6, 6:7 (5:7), 3:6.
The tennis player also participated in tournaments in Cincinnati and Toronto. In Cincinnati, he started in the second round, defeating Musetti 6:3, 6:2, but then lost to Zverev 4:6, 7:5, 4:6. In Toronto, he reached the quarter-finals, defeating Arnaldi 6:2, 7:5 and Musetti 6:4, 6:4, but then lost to De Minaur 6:7 (7:9), 5:7.
At Wimbledon, Daniil showcased commendable performance and reached the semi-finals, defeating Fery 7:5, 6:4, 6:3, Mannarino 6:3, 6:3, 7:6 (7:5), Fucsovics 4:6, 6:3, 6:4, 6:4, Lehecka (the match was stopped at 6:4, 6:2) and Eubanks 6:4, 1:6, 4:6, 7:6 (7:4), 6:1, but in the semi-finals he lost to Alcaraz 3:6, 3:6, 3:6.
Also of great importance in Daniil's season were his triumph at the clay tournament in Rome where he beat Ruusuvuori, Zapata Miralles, Zverev, Hanfmann, Tsitsipas, and Rune. He also displayed his prowess in Rotterdam, Doha, Dubai, and Miami hard court tournaments, claiming titles there.
