Osasuna - Girona predictions and free betting tips [04/11/2023]
On Saturday, 4th November, as part of the 12th round of the Spanish Primera, Osasuna will host Girona at their home ground. The visitors are in second place in the league table, sharing the exact number of points (28) with Real Madrid, while Osasuna stands 11th, oscillating between victories and defeats.
Osasuna: Herrera; Areso, Catena, D Garcia, Pena; Moncayola, Torro; Ruben Garcia, Oroz, Gomez; Budimir.
Girona: Gazzaniga; A Martinez, Juanpe, Blind; Couto, Herrera, A Garcia, Gutierrez; Portu, Dovbyk, Savio.
The bout will take place in Pamplona at El Sadar Stadium.
Sitting outside the top half of the league table (11th position), Osasuna seem unable to recapture their form from their previous two seasons. The Copa del Rey runners-up were eliminated from Europa Conference League qualifying by Brugge back in August, which has since seen them focus solely on the domestic championship. However, out of their last eight matches, the hosts have secured only two victories, suffering five losses in the process! Their most recent defeat occurred last week, in a game against Betis (2:1).
The Basque side opened the score in the 85th minute with Ruben Garcia's strike, however, Isco managed to level things up at the 94th minute. Before the international break in November, Jagoba Arrasate’s team faces home matches against Girona and Las Palmas, but their home performances this season leave much to be desired with just one victory in six matches across all competitions. They also face goal-scoring issues, with only 12 goals netted in 11 rounds, while conceding 16 in return.
The main surprise of the season's start on the Iberian Peninsula has been Girona. The Catalans are currently in second place in the league table, just behind Real Madrid, with an impressive 28 points in 11 rounds (out of a possible 33), having suffered only one defeat in La Liga - at home against Los Blancos (0:3). This week, the burgundy-whites defeated San Roke 2:1 in the 1/64 final of the King's Cup, and last Friday they overcame Celta at home 1:0 courtesy of a 91st-minute goal by Yangel Herrera. Having played 12 matches in all competitions this season, Girona has recorded 10 victories, a draw, and a defeat. Astonishingly, this is only their fourth season in Spain's top flight, which makes their strong start even more commendable. Their best finish in La Liga prior to this season was a tenth-place rank.
Last season, Osasuna won 2:1 against Girona at home, while the teams played out a 1:1 draw in Catalonia.
Predictions for the Match Osasuna vs Girona
Having managed a hard-fought victory last Friday and drawing level with Real Madrid in the league table, the guests will certainly want to take the lead in La Liga, if only for a few hours. Girona's phenomenon is its flawless attack, which has racked up 25 goals in their ongoing season, more than any other team in Spain. Osasuna is struggling at the season's beginning, and not even the support of their home fans is likely to help. My prediction – visitors' victory with a 0 handicap.
Girona, as mentioned earlier, is scoring an average of 2.5 goals per game and boasts a decent squad even by European standards. At least two goals are expected from the burgundy-whites on Saturday.
Girona will be on the attack from the opening minutes, taking the initiative, hence a confident bet on the visitors' individual total of over 4.5 corners.
Yellow Cards Prediction
Osasuna will have to defend heavily and commit fouls to hold off the in-form visitors. Victory in yellow cards is expected from the hosts.
Exact Score Prediction
My bet on the exact score is 0:2 in favor of Girona.
