Valencia - Cadiz predictions and free betting tips [23/10/2023]

On Monday, 23 October, as part of the 10th round of the Spanish La Liga, Valencia will host Cadiz on its home field. Last season, Valencia spent a considerable amount of time in a precarious position, even coming close to relegation, but ultimately managed to stay afloat – an uninspiring 16th place was their lowest ranking since being relegated from La Liga in 1986. The management of this once-status club is betting on a youth infusion and a new development vector; however, after two victories in the first two rounds against Sevilla (2:1) and Las Palmas (1:0), the hosts have only managed one win in their last seven encounters, including four losses.

The latest setback came three weeks ago against Real Betis (3:0), after which 'Los Murciélagos' (The Bats) secured a stalemate with Mallorca (1:1) before the international break. At this point, the hosts have accrued 11 points and are sitting in 10th place in the table, trailing sixth-placed Athletic Bilbao by six points.

Cadiz is one of those teams that will be desperately fighting to avoid relegation at the end of the season, yet at the championship's outset, 'Los Piratas' (The Pirates) are looking relatively decent. Regardless, the visitors have not managed to secure a victory in their last five rounds, including three defeats against Athletic Bilbao (3:0), Atletico Madrid (3:2), and Girona (1:0) – the solitary goal was scored by Aleisha Garcia in the 59th minute.

As a result, Gonzalez's charges are 15th in the overall standings, lagging behind Valencia by only two points. After the trip to the Mestalla, Cadiz is due to host Sevilla in La Liga, followed by a match against Badalona in the Copa Del Rey. 'El Submarino Amarillo' (The Yellow Submarine) are embarking on their fourth consecutive season playing in the Spanish football elite, their best achievement since the early 1990s.

Both teams will be missing several important players on Monday, and a draw here wouldn't be a surprise. Valencia, despite a lively start to the season, has hit a stumbling block this autumn and hasn't tasted victory in their last four matches. Cadiz would be more than happy to take a point away from the Mestalla, considering they currently lead the drop zone by only three points. Out of the last nine head-to-head duels, the teams have drawn four times – I'll take a punt on a similar outcome this time around.

Prediction for the total

Neither side has been particularly prolific in the current campaign, averaging roughly a goal per match. Given the importance of this clash in the survival battle, I'm betting on 'both teams to score: no'.

I don't expect an open game with plenty of goal chances from either side – most of the fight will be in midfield. I predict a total under 9.5 corners.
