Burnley - Liverpool predictions and free betting tips [26/12/2023]

On Tuesday, 26th December, as part of the 19th round of the EPL, Burnley will welcome Liverpool on home ground. Vincent Kompany's team strengthened their survival prospects by unexpectedly defeating Fulham 2:0 at the weekend, whereas the Merseysiders ended in an intense draw against Arsenal at Anfield.

In November, the Clarets destroyed bottom-table Sheffield United 5:0, after which they failed to win the next three matches (1 draw and 2 losses): a draw against Brighton (1:1), defeats to Everton (0:2) and Wolverhampton (1:0).

However, over the past weekend, the maroon unexpectedly triumphed over Fulham in London (0:2): at the 47th minute Wilson Odobert opened the score, and then the 19-year-old French winger took another 19 minutes to assist Sander Berge. Burnley's seven out of the possible 11 Premier League points this season have come in December, ending an away losing streak since 3rd October. 

Liverpool

After a disappointing campaign last year, Liverpool is again competing for the title. Currently, the Merseysiders sit in second place in the Premier League table, only one point behind leaders Arsenal. The Reds haven't lost any of their last 11 national championship matches: for instance, after three straight wins over Fulham, Sheffield, and Crystal Palace under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp, they drew 1:1 at Anfield against Manchester United and, over the past weekend, against the Gunners.

Gabriel Magalhaes scored Arsenal's fastest ever Premier League goal at Anfield just four minutes after kickoff, but the Merseysiders equalised thanks to Mohamed Salah's effort. Between these results, a whopping 5:1 win over West Ham occurred in the quarterfinals of the League Cup. As the Gunners will only play their match on Thursday, Liverpool has a chance to take the top spot on the table, ensuring three points at Turf Moor.

The visitors have emerged victorious in all the last 13 games against Burnley. In the 2021/22 campaign, the Merseysiders won both encounters: 2:0 and 0:1.

Match Prediction: Burnley vs Liverpool

Kompany's charges will, of course, press on the depleted left flank of the visitors' defence, while Klopp's team, despite all their squad losses, won't be at their best after the energy-draining battle with Arsenal. Nevertheless, Burnley remains the worst domestic team in the current EPL season (only 3 points gathered), so we confidently bet on the Reds' victory with handicap -1.

Total Prediction

In nine home matches, Burnley conceded 22 goals, and it's hardly likely for the hosts to solve all defensive problems overnight. We bet on the visitors' ITO (individual total over) 1.5 goals.
