Arsenal
The pupils of Mikel Arteta have led the Premier League for a long time in the last campaign, but eventually slowed down their defences and took second place, trailing by 5 points behind Manchester City. The Gunners have made a lively start to the new season, winning the Super Cup for the country from the Citizens (1:1, penalty shootout victory). In the Premier League, Arsenal also started successfully: undefeated, the hosts hold the 4th line in the overall standings. After drawing with Fulham in the 3rd round (2:2), the red-whites beat Manchester United (3:1) and Everton (0:1). In the Champions League, Arsenal also gave their fans a reason to celebrate by demolishing PSV this week (4:0), with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard and Leandro Trossard all excelling. Arsenal is the only team amongst the top seven leaders who have scored less than 10 goals so far.
Arteta still laments the severe injury of defender Timber, who was purchased during the summer from Ajax. Also, key midfielder Partey and Elneny wouldn’t be able to play, while Martinelli's (2 assists in the Premier League) participation remains questionable. England international Declan Rice, who moved from West Ham and was acquired in the summer, quickly became the leader of Arsenal's midfield, while Havertz, the German player, has been disappointing fans. The team captain, Martin Odegaard (2 goals), and winger Saka (2 goals and 2 assists) remain the attack leaders and will definitely be on the pitch from the first minutes on Sunday. Last weekend, it was substitute Trossard who brought Londoners the victory against Everton. Also noteworthy is that in the last two matches, newcomer Raya from Brentford has been guarding the goal instead of Ramsdale.
Tottenham
Tottenham concluded last season with two coaching resignations and was content with a disappointing 8th place in the Premier League. As a result, this autumn they will not participate in the European cups. Now under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou, the Spurs are restoring their former condition and demonstrating bright play. The Whites occupy 2nd place in the overall standings, having as many points as their rival (13 points). Having drawn in the first round against Brentford with a score of 2:2, Tottenham has since scored victories over Manchester United (2:0), Bournemouth (0:2), Burnley (2:5) and Sheffield United (2:1) last weekend. Until the 108th minute of injury time, the North London club was losing, but substitute Richarlison equalised with a header, and Dejan Kulusevski scored a beautiful goal two minutes later.
Travelling to Emirates, Tottenham will be weakened by injuries to Bentancur, Whiteman (goalkeeper) and Bryan Gil (winger), plus playmaker Lo Сelso who returned from loan during the summer. The Brazilian Richarlison, who's been subject to media criticism for many months, scored and assisted last weekend, so he should now be in the starting lineup. Playmaker Maddison, who was signed from Leicester this summer (already 2 goals and 2 assists), has become an integral part of Postecoglou’s system. That's also the case with the new team captain, Son Heung-Min from Korea (3 goals). The off-season was marked by the departure of the club's top scorer, Harry Kane, to Bayern, and Israeli Manor Solomon was acquired to replace him.
Head-to-heads
The Sunday match will be the 208th North London derby since 1896. Arteta's trainees have won four out of the last five head-to-head matches against their nemesis, and last season the Gunners won 3:1 and 0:2.
Predictions for the Arsenal – Tottenham match
Arsenal has transformed into a true grand of European football, and the Gunners have more than convincingly started the new season. Last week, the hosts didn't give PSV any chances, so a derby triumph is just a matter of time. Tottenham has been impressive in the first rounds, but this is happening rather despite everything. Plus, the guests have been struggling recently against their sworn enemies, so I predict the red and whites will win.
Over/Under prediction
Both teams are in good shape and keep scoring wins one after another. I confidently place a bet on the total goals, over 2.5, and expect a spectacular match.
Corner prediction
Standard positions are not a "highlight" of both teams, preferring to use combination football. In the last four derbies, no more than 9 corners were given, and it will be the same this time.
Yellow card prediction
Taking into account the emotional component of the match, an abundance of yellow cards is simply inevitable – the total will be over 4.5.
Score prediction
I will bet on an exact score of 3:1 in favor of Arsenal.
