Aiming to further establish their place in the top six in Championship, West Bromwich Albion is set to host Bristol City at The Hawthorns. The hosts are confidently moving towards playoff qualification while the visitors are meandering mid-table with no particular hopes for promotion.
Last Sunday, West Brom extended their unbeaten streak to five matches by thrashing Huddersfield Town away from home. While Norwich City, Hull City, and Coventry City are wrestling for the sixth spot, the Baggies have been holding the fifth position for much of the championship and have pulled away quite nicely. Unfortunately, Andres Weimann will be unable to participate in this match due to loan agreement terms.
The visitors finally savoured victory, breaking their streak of four consecutive losses. Despite the success over the past weekend, a scant return of three points from five matches has left Bristol City out of the playoff fray. Matty James's condition is a cause for concern within the visitors' coaching staff, while Mark Sykes might replace Harry Cornick in the starting line-up.
The teams are of different calibre, and rightfully the hosts are the favourites. West Brom have been formidable in attack, which has largely determined their standing in the table. Bristol City has almost no pressing tasks left, and finding some extra motivation will be difficult. A victory for West Brom as the stronger team seems to be the most logical choice here.
