In an international friendly football match, the USA and Brazil national teams will face off. The game kicks off on Thursday, 13 June.
The current holders of the CONCACAF Nations League Cup made a severe misstep in their last friendly, suffering an embarrassing 1:5 defeat at home against Colombia. Indeed, the Colombians are on a high now, and I think they have good chances in the Copa America this year, but no one could foresee such a humiliating scoreline for the Americans.
The USA, in fact, has an excellent and strong squad: Reyna, Pulisic, McKennie, Weah, Balogun – all top-class players coveted by leading clubs but not yet fully able to showcase their potential.
The Brazilians have not lost this year thus far. In previous matches, they confidently defeated England (1:0), Mexico (3:2), and drew with Spain (3:3). A few days ago, they met Mexico again, where they created problems out of nowhere, leading 2:0 but conceding two late goals. Endrick Felipe managed to fix the situation, scoring in the 96th minute, but Brazil did make their fans anxious.
The last time these teams met in a friendly was in 2018 when Brazil confidently won 2:0. Historically, the Americans have never beaten Brazil, not even managing to secure a draw.
After what I saw in the last match from the Americans, I believe even less in their victory. Brazil, on the other hand, will likely come with their full squad and show off ahead of the Copa America. I will take a win for the visitors.
