On Tuesday, 11 June, Saudi Arabia will face the national team of Jordan in the 6th round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The hosts currently lead Group G without a single defeat, while the visitors are in second place, trailing the leaders by three points.
The match will take place in Riyadh at the King Saud University Stadium.
Saudi Arabia had a disappointing Asian Cup. After advancing to the Round of 16 with victories over Oman (2-1) and Kyrgyzstan (2-0), and a draw with Thailand (0-0) in the group stage, Roberto Mancini's team lost to South Korea in the first round of the knockout stage. However, the World Cup qualifying campaign has been successful for the team, who are unbeaten in five matches, defeating Pakistan (4-0 and 3-0), Jordan (2-0), and Tajikistan (1-0), and drawing with the latter (1-1).
While their place in the next round is already secured, the Green Falcons will aim to maintain their excellent form and secure their third consecutive World Cup appearance. Notably, they have conceded just two goals in their last six matches across all competitions. It’s also worth noting that they are unbeaten in their last five home matches.
After a poor start to the World Cup qualifiers – a draw with Tajikistan (1-1) and a defeat to Saudi Arabia, along with unsatisfactory friendlies against Lebanon (2-1) and Japan (6-1) – Jordan showed an impressive result in the Asian Cup. After barely advancing from the group stage with a win over Malaysia (4-0), a high-scoring draw with South Korea (2-2), and a loss to Bahrain (0-1), the Jordanian team defeated Iraq (3-2), Tajikistan (1-0), and South Korea (2-0) to reach the final, where they lost to Qatar (3-1).
In the current World Cup qualifying campaign, the Red-Greens are in second place in Group G and have already secured a place in the next round. Last week, they defeated Tajikistan at home (3-0), having previously beaten Pakistan (7-0 and 3-0). Importantly, they have excelled on the road in 2024, winning four consecutive away matches with a total score of 11-2.
In the first round of these qualifiers, Saudi Arabia emerged victorious in Jordan with a score of 2-0. However, the previous two head-to-head matches were won by the Red-Greens.
Saudi Arabia managed a hard-fought 2-0 victory in the first round match between these teams. However, the hosts are significantly superior in terms of experience and personnel. The local league is rapidly improving thanks to high-profile foreign transfers, unlike the Jordanian players, who lack such opportunities. I predict a victory for Roberto Mancini's team.
Saudi Arabia averages two goals per game in the current qualifiers, while Jordan has scored 14 goals in five matches. Expect a high-scoring game and bet on the total goals to be over 2.5.
Saudi Arabia, as the home team, will dominate possession and play offensively. Expect the Green Falcons to win the corners with a -1.5 handicap.
In the last two head-to-head matches, these teams have accumulated a total of four yellow cards. Therefore, bet on the total yellow cards to be over 3.5.
I predict a 2-1 victory for Saudi Arabia.
