On Saturday, 18th November, as part of the 9th round of the Euro 2024 qualifying tournament, the Belarus national team will face the Andorran national squad. Both teams have long lost the chance to make it to the final cluster of the continental championship and are completing the campaign at their pleasure.
Belarus: Ignatovich; Volkov, Politevich, Polyakov; Karpovich, Ebong, Korzun, Pyachenin; Skavysh, Kontsevoy, Bakhar.
Andorra: Alvarez; Rubio, Llovera, M. Vales, Pomares, Garcia; E. Vales, Rebes, Vieira, Cervos; Alaez.
The match will take place in Budapest at the Ferenc Puskás Stadium.
Belarus will yet again be absent at a significant international tournament. Their lack of success: only one victory in eight rounds - a 2:1 win over Kosovo. Otherwise, there were four defeats and three draws, including a series of two back-to-back draws in the October pairing against Romania (0:0) and Switzerland (3:3).
With two remaining matches in the campaign, the nominal hosts are fifth in the group and are 10 points behind Switzerland and Romania. According to FIFA's ranking, Belarus, in 100th place, will try to get first three-match winning streak in official games since October-November 2020 in Saturday's battle against Andorra, given that their rivals are even weaker according to football standards.
Likewise, Andorra will predictably miss the forthcoming Euro. Having only garnered two points in eight rounds, it is hard to expect a successful finish in the group's pair of stronger teams. Andorra has let in 17 goals while scoring only three times, which rationally results in three consecutive losses in the autumn qualifying matches against Switzerland (3:0), Kosovo (0:3) and Romania (4:0). However, Koldo Alvarez's squad, currently holding 159th position in FIFA's ranking, can still claim not to end up last in this qualifying round. To achieve this, they need to win in the two remaining matches and hope Belarus slips against Kosovo.
Belarusians were unbeaten in their last four encounters with Andorra, winning three times and scoring 11 goals. The first round match in September ended up in a sensational goalless draw.
Both teams have lost their chances to finish in the top two at the end of this qualifying round, so it's hard to name the players' motivation overwhelming. However, the hosts are of a higher class and they have to rehabilitate in front of the fans for the sensational draw in September against the "dwarf" team. I bet on a victory of Belarus this Saturday.
Andorra let in 17 goals in eight played rounds, while Belarus scored 7. A better opportunity to improve their goal count would be hard to imagine so I bet on the host's Individual Total Over 1.5.
The Belarus team outclasses their rival and should surpass them in all key parameters, including corners (Handicap -1.5).
I don't expect an abundance of yellow cards in view of the lack of tournament motivation in the match and bet on Total Under 3.5.
I bet on an exact score of 2:0 in favour of the Belarus national team.
