In the second part of the game day at the European Handball Championship, the teams of Denmark and the Czech Republic will play.
The Denmark team, as the current World Champion and bronze medallist at the Euros, is preparing for their first match at the European Handball Championship. In the preparation phase in the Golden League, having played 2 rounds out of 6 matches, the Danes only dropped points in the game against their arch-rival Norway, drawing with a score of 27:27. In the other matches, including the encounter with the same Norwegian team, Denmark showed confidence, securing victories over the Netherlands with a score of 32:18, Egypt 34:31, and other opponents.
Furthermore, considering last year's European Cup and the World Championship, the Denmark team has not lost in more than 25 consecutive matches since Euro 2022, where they suffered a defeat against Sweden with a score of 32:34. Such a sequence indicates that the Danish team is among the main contenders for victory in the upcoming championship, demonstrating a high level of play and consistent results.
The Czech Republic team confidently qualified for the European Handball Championship, taking one of the leading places in their qualification group along with Iceland. The team achieved 5 victories out of 6 matches, exchanging crushing defeats with Iceland but easily defeating the apparent outsiders of the qualification, Estonia and Israel.
In preparation for the Euros, the Czech Republic team showed impressive results in friendly matches. Particularly noteworthy is the sensational victory over Hungary with a score of 26:25, which took place on 5 January. Additionally, the Czechs left no chance for the strong Bosnian and Herzegovinian team, defeating them with a score of 30:18 in the match on 5 November.
The opponents have met 4 times, three times in European tournaments and once at the World Championship in 2007. The Danes won 3 consecutive matches, but in the last encounter in 2018, the Czechs won with a score of 28:27.
In this match, the clear favourite is the current world champion, the Danes. However, the Czech Republic in the first match without game rhythm is not an opponent that can be easily defeated with a crushing score. The Czechs can quite possibly keep the margin within 9 goals; they showed in their last friendly match that they can compete even with the Hungarians, defeating them with a bookmaker's odds of 4+.
