BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024. Closed qualifiers. Upper bracket. The second match of the game day and a battle for the opportunity to play in the next round, most likely, with one of the main favourites of the qualifiers. Entity will once again be trying to demonstrate their ability to assert themselves online, but Team Tickles will pose a challenge.
After two years of attempting to form a team of Western European players, Dmitry "Fishman" Polischuk has finally gone ahead and assembled a team of solely Eastern European representatives. While still playing in the Western European qualifiers, this is simply due to where the team resides and holds boot camps, regardless of the nationality of its players. Hence, Entity is striving to get in through Western Europe. Their first such attempt was without Vladimir "No[o]ne" Minenko, who had been on holiday post-The International 2023. Now the full lineup has come together, so evaluating them on past performance in the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 qualifiers wouldn't be fair. Even then, Entity made it to winners' final and then played in the losers' finals. They lost both matches and didn't advance to LAN. However, the third place for a freshly formed line-up isn't the worst result, particularly given that even then, the line-up wasn't fully complete.
This team represents a classic tier-2, or perhaps tier-3, Western European line-up. Rumours suggest they are the secondary lineup of the Gaimin Gladiators, but there's been no confirmation of this. Indicators of this team's quality include their consistent participation in available online tournaments, though their success rate varies from event to event. No major victories, although they consistently pass the group stage. Once in the playoffs and facing increased competition, they tend to fall out. In the closed qualifiers for ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, Team Tickles even managed to get through the first winner's bracket round, but back-to-back losses that followed, resulted in their elimination from the tournament. One positive side is that Team Tickles may be one of the only teams with consistent tournament practice, so they might be in the best shape come qualifiers out of all attending teams. On the downside, given the team composition they might just eliminate in the first round of the loser's bracket.
Entity and Team Tickles have yet to face each other in matches.
Betscity, of course, picks Entity as the favourite in this match. The Western European collective is made up mostly of Eastern European representatives and has an odds of 1.26 for victory. Meanwhile, the odds for a Team Tickles victory stands at 3.50. Here, we certainly lean towards an Entity win. Sadly, at the time when the prediction piece is being written there are no better odds available, such as handicaps, so we have to go with a simple Entity victory for a not-so-great odds. However, should you find a handicap of -1.5, feel free to take it.
