On June 15, the first round of the group stage of the 2024 European Championship took place, where the Swiss national team faced Hungary.
The match ended with a 3-1 victory for Switzerland. Midfielder Kwadwo Duah opened the scoring in the 12th minute, and towards the end of the half, Michel Aebischer extended Switzerland's lead to two goals.
In the second half, Hungarian forward Barnabás Varga won a battle in the penalty area and pulled one back. However, this was not enough for Hungary to equalize. Towards the end of the match, Breel Embolo capitalized on a mistake by a Hungarian defender and set the final score.
Switzerland is now in second place in Group A, with Germany leading the group and Scotland at the bottom. Hungary is in third place.
