Nigerian Footballers Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala Nominated for 2023 Globe Soccer Awards

Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala, renowned Nigerian footballers, have earned nominations for the prestigious 2023 Globe Soccer Awards. Osimhen, a standout performer for both Napoli and the Nigerian national team, has been included in the 29-man shortlist for the men's category. His remarkable achievements include leading Napoli to their first Serie A championship in 33 years and finishing as the league's top scorer with 26 goals. Additionally, he was the highest scorer in the Nations Cup 2024 qualifiers with ten goals.

Osimhen, who previously played for Lille, finds himself in elite company, nominated alongside football greats like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kylian Mbappe. His past accolades include the 'Emerging Player of the Year' at the 2022 Globe Soccer Awards, and he's also a finalist for the 2023 CAF Player of the Year.

In the women's category, Asisat Oshoala has been recognized for her pivotal role in Barcelona Femeni's UEFA Women's Champions League victory. This nomination marks her first for the Globe Soccer Awards.

The Globe Soccer Awards, a collaborative effort of the European Club Association and the European Association of Player’s Agents, will announce its winners at a Gala in Dubai on January 19, 2024. The award process includes an online public voting phase, followed by a final selection by a jury of 30 football industry luminaries, including Casillas, Figo, and Totti.
