UEFA May Replace Euro Semifinal Referee Involved in Match-Fixing

UEFA plans to replace the main referee for the 2024 European Championship semifinal match between the Netherlands and England national teams. This was reported by The Times.

The match was supposed to be refereed by German referee Felix Zwayer. According to the publication, the German could not have been allowed to officiate major tournaments because in 2014 he was suspended for six months for an incident in 2005. At that time, he received a bribe of 300 euros. The committee's decision stated that his actions in organizing match-fixing were unintentional.

In the Euro 2024 semifinals, Spain will play against France on July 9, and the Netherlands will face England on July 10. The final is scheduled for July 14 and will take place in Berlin.
